Caring For Others, Inc. (CFO), an Atlanta-based nonprofit, has partnered with the jail to provide new clothing, shoes, and hygiene products to women and men in need of these items upon their release.

Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Director of Communications, Natalie Ammons, also a CFO volunteer, saw the need at the jail and thought it aligned with the organization’s mission to provide for those in need. She approached Sheriff Pat Labat and CFO President/Founder/CEO Eslene Richmond-Shockley with the idea, and they were all in.

“Providing a resident with new clothes and shoes upon their release from the jail could potentially be the difference between them reoffending and cycling back into the jail, and never coming back,” Ammons said. “It’s all about second chances.”

The room is called “Ray of Hope,” in memory of Richmond-Shockley’s late husband, Ray Shockley, who was known to be a very sharp dresser and steadfastly supported CFO until his death just last month.

“We are honored to partner with Fulton County Jail to provide those released with clothing and goods they need to allow them to feel dignified,” Richmond-Shockley. said. “The mission of ‘Ray of Hope’ is a testament to my late husband’s light and love that we aim to shine on those who need it most.”

“Mrs. Shockley and Caring For Others have been tremendous community partners throughout Fulton County for so many years and we are pleased that it has now extended to the sheriff’s office and into the Fulton County Jail,” Labat said. “We are thankful for her partnership and her dedication to the community.”
