On Monday, August 29th, state officials in Mississippi announced that the drinking water system in Jackson, MS is failing with no immediate solution in sight. Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves declared a state of emergency after excessive rainfall and flooding exacerbated problems in one of Jackson’s water treatment plants. Over 150,000 residents face low water pressure making it difficult to fight fires, flush toilets, and have safe drinking water.
